A breach notice. A clear next step.

Respond to the information involved, not just the headline.

3 min read

A breach report is not proof of current account takeover. The useful question is what information was involved and which action addresses it.

Try this

  1. Check the notice on the company’s official site. Note the affected account, date, and reported data types.

  2. If passwords were involved, replace affected passwords and any reused copies. For payment data, contact the card issuer.

  3. For US identity data, follow IdentityTheft.gov’s data-specific steps. Keep the notice and check any offered help through official channels.
