Modern HTTPS protects data in transit between your browser and a website. That makes public Wi-Fi safer than it used to be. It does not make the website’s owner trustworthy.

Try this

  1. Check the website address before signing in. Open familiar services through their official app or your own bookmark.

  2. Look for HTTPS and do not ignore certificate warnings. Scammers can use encrypted sites too.

  3. Keep your device and browser updated. Use unique passwords and two-factor authentication on any network.
